Dumanjug shooting is election-related, police says

LAST Sunday’s shooting incident in Dumanjug town near the Garcia ancestral home was election-related, the Police Regional Office said.

Senior Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas, deputy regional director for operations of PRO-7, said the shooting incident at Dumanjug town met their parameters for classification of election related violence.

He said supporters of political candidates were involved and the shooting highlighted the ongoing political tension in the area.

Lawas said he ordered the Dumanjug police to further investigate the incident. About six cases of election related violence occurred in Loboc, Bohol; Carcar City, Ronda, Madridejos and Sta. Fe in Cebu in Central Visayas.
