THE resolution of the final taxi flag-down rate may be addressed only after President-elect Rodrigo Duterte assumes office in June.

Reynaldo Elnar, assistant regional director for Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB-7), also said yesterday that majority of the transport groups failed to submit survey forms.

“The survey forms identify drivers’ income, take home pay, including the repair of the taxi,” Elnar told Cebu Daily News.

Out of 200 transport operators in Cebu, only five were able to submit their survey forms to LTFRB-7.

“These survey forms can help in identifying the bases for the pending resolution,” Elnar added.

The LTFRB suspended the taxi’s 30 flag-down rate, which was implemented last March 8, after transport groups filed motion for reconsideration for the March 8 flag-down rate. With the petitions, the LTFRB also suspended the recalibration of the taxi meters after the final resolution.

But Elnar clarified that the less P10 remains provisional, that is why instead of P40, the flag-down rate still stands at P30 today.

Elnar then reminded the drivers to give passengers less P10.

Violators will still be penalized for overcharging.

Under the Joint Administrative Order (JAO) 2014-01, drivers will pay P1,000 and P5,000 for operators for overcharging.
