PROVINCIAL Board members for the second district of Cebu province were finally proclaimed yesterday, four days after the May 9 elections.

Argao City Mayor Edsel Galeos (Independent) and Jose Mari “Tata” Salvador (Liberal Party) received the highest votes from their district and were announced as PB winners by the Provincial Board of Election Canvassers (PBOC) past 2 p.m. yesterday after the PBOC received and canvassed the election returns (ERs) from Santander town.

Galeos and Salvador received 53,276 votes and 49,350 votes, respectively, making them the top two PB candidates to represent the district composed of the towns of Alcoy, Argao, Boljoon, Dalaguete, Oslob, Samboan and Santander. A total of 174,008 voted in the second district.

Galeos, who was mayor of Argao town for nine years, said transitioning to the legislative department would not be hard as he hoped to use his experience as mayor to craft good laws that would benefit his district and the province.

He vowed to support the programs of Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III, who has been leading in the gubernatorial race and is expected to be proclaimed winner anytime after the Cordova election returns have been counted.

Salvador, a nurse and a member of the Salvador clan that has long dominated Dalaguete’s’ politics, said he would propose to establish a blood bank in the province to help those who might need blood transfusions immediately.
