CEBU first district Rep. Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas called the detractors of his grandfather, Talisay City Mayor-elect Eduardo Gullas, as ‘desperate’ following reports that the latter suffered a serious illness and had died.
“I’ve heard of rumors and plain lies going around Talisay that my grandfather nasakit na daw (is sick). Ang uban gani estorya gi kuha na daw sa Ginoo (Others are saying that he has been taken by our Lord). Is this the only thing left in your bag of tricks? Desperado ra kaayo mo (You are so desperate),” he said on his Facebook page on Saturday evening.
The younger Gullas added his grandfather is healthy. To prove it, he posted a selfie photo with his grandfather on his Facebook page “Samsam Gullas.”
He asked those who were spreading the “lies” to stop and just “be a man and accept your defeat and be humble,” apparently blaming the rumor on the political opponents of Gullas.
“If my grandfather could do it when he lost by 700 votes (in the Talisay City mayoral race) in 2013, hopefully you can do it after losing by 40,000 votes. Stop the rumors. They are not true,” he said.
