Mandaue elderly gets P2K AID

At least 15,000 senior citizens in Mandaue City will receive this month the first P2,000 installment of their P6,000 financial assistance from the city government.

Michael Pelago, Office of the Senior Citizens’ Affairs head of Mandaue City, said the cash distribution which started yesterday, will last for a week.

Pelago said there was a ceremonial distribution yesterday which was attended by Mayor Jonas Cortes.

He said that the cash assistance was supposed to be distributed last month, but because of the elections, it was moved to this month.

He said that the cash assistance will be distributed in three tranches or installments worth P2,000 each.

He said the first installment is distributed this month, the next one will be in August while the third installment will be released in December.

Pelago said that there are 15,836 registered senior citizens in the city.

Yesterday, senior citizens from Barangays Tipolo, Subangdaku, Casuntingan and Banilad received their P2,000 financial assistance.

Today it will be the senior citizens of Barangays Centro, Mantuyong, Cambaro, Guizo, Bakilid Uno and Dos.

Pelago said those senior citizens who cannot claim their financial assistance on the scheduled dates can get it on May 23 until the end of the month at the Mandaue City Treasurer’s Office.
