A SIX-YEAR-OLD boy sustained bruises and contusions in his stomach and privates after his shirt got snagged while riding an escalator in a mall in Mandaue City yesterday afternoon.

A saleslady who witnessed the incident said the boy was with his mother at the time when he stumbled and fell while riding the escalator.

The boy’s shirt got snagged in the escalator, resulting in contusions and bruises on his stomach.

Felix Suico, head of the Mandaue City Disaster Risk Reduction Managment Office (MCDRRMO), said the boy underwent treatment that included a circumcision at the Chong Hua Hospital at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.

Suico said they have yet to speak with the boy’s mother who kept crying while her son underwent treatment.

“Naapil pud iyahang private part. Pero stable na ang condition sa bata karon (His private was also wounded. But his condition is stable now),” he said.

Cebu Daily News tried but was unable to get the side of mall management which refused to comment on the incident.
