THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday transported the printed election returns (ER) from Cebu province to the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City, Metro Manila.
Acting Cebu provincial election supervisor Eliseo Labaria and some police officers escorted the printed documents, which were loaded into a Philippine Airlines (PAL) aircraft at about 1 p.m. yesterday.
Transported were the printed ERs and certificates of canvass (COCs) from 4,066 precincts in the province.
“Mao ni siya ang gamiton sa NBOC para sa canvass. Kinahanglan ang printed copies para maka-move on. Kailangan og hard copy (The NBOC needs these printed copies for the canvassing of votes),” Labaria said.
An ER is a document in electronic and printed form directly produced by the counting or voting machine, showing the date of the election, the province, municipality and the precinct in which it is held and the votes in figures for each candidate in a precinct in areas where the automated election system is utilized.
A COC contains the summary of votes per province, city or municipality.
The election results for president and vice president are transmitted to the NBOC, which will canvass the results and proclaim the winning candidates.
