THIS is the second Natori show I have been to. The first one had been well over a year ago at Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa, Cebu—a dreamy resort showcase of tropical chic garbs in various shades of vibrant colors and prints and nudes.
This year had a more salon type vibe, presented at the heart of the second level of Rustan’s, Ayala Center Cebu. The show felt more intimate this time around and people got to see the garments up close, even get a good feel of the material.
Josie Natori has been synonymous with luxe resort wear, a reflection and tribute to her Filipino heritage. This renowned New York-based Filipino designer has taken resort dressing from the beach to the streets. This season we’re seeing a lot of transitional pieces which you can take from a weekend getaway to a Monday lunch meeting in a snap. Of course, staying true to the brands roots, an array of delicate printed silk slip dresses and kaftan frocks in citrine and pastel hues. Noticeably the prints highlight bold brushstrokes, abstract calligraphy, watercolor florals reminiscent of Asian paintings. Spring is in full bloom in the house of Natori.
I am personally drawn to the versatile separates in basic neutral shades that turn into instant wardrobe staples, which you can also mix with existing pieces in your closet. Her Spring/Summer 2016 collection is a contrast between bold statement pieces and tailored neutral classics.
Apart from the show, a there was styling session hosted by the brand with Ms. Natori herself giving invited guests valuable tips on how to style pieces from her latest collection to fit practically any occasion.
You may visit the Natori boutique at the second level of Rustan’s in Ayala Center Cebu.
