Cebu Coliseum
1:00 p.m. Tyron Properties-USPF vs. Highlands Corned Beef-UC
2:30 p.m. Mighty Sports-USJ-R vs. My Led Opto-CIT-U
4:00 p.m. Worthy-UV vs. Cebu Landmasters-USC

The 8th edition of the Cesafi Partner’s Cup kicks off with a triple-header highlighted by a rematch of last year’s finals between the erstwhile champions University of San Carlos Warriors and runners-up University of the Visayas Green Lancers today at the Cebu Coliseum.

However, the match-up will be looking far different from the one that thrilled Cebuanos late last year with the two teams suffering major losses to personnel during the offseason.

USC, backed by the Cebu Landmasters, lost head coach Britt Reroma, reigning league MVP Shooster Olago, Mythical Five forward Charles Pepito and skipper Nico Magat, among others. Now manning the Warriors is Rommel Rasmo, the current head coach of the Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles.

Also still in the Warriors camp are explosive wingmen Ian Tagapan and Ian Ortega.

UV, being supported by Worthy in this competition, just recently lost their two best players, Jun Manzo and Leonard Santillan, both of whom transferred to the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons.

Meanwhile, the other games today will see the Tyron Properties-University of Southern Philippines Foundation battle the Highlands Corned Beef-University of Cebu in the curtain-raiser at 1 p.m. That game will be followed by the tiff between the Mighty Sports-University of San Jose-Recoletos and the My Led Opto-Cebu Institute of Technology-University.
