Youthful teammates Andrew Kim Remolino and Raven Faith Alcoseba put on brilliant performances against their older counterparts to emerge victorious in last Saturday’s Dip N Dash Aquathlon at the Green Lagoon Park and Resort in Compostela town, northern Cebu.
Stalwarts of the Talisay City Swimming Team, Remolino ruled the men’s elite division, while Alcoseba, a Palarong Pambansa multi-gold medalist topped the women’s elite competition.
Remolino, a fresh recruit of the country’s developmental team for triathlon, finished the race in one hour, 13 minutes and 11 seconds to defeat multi-titled triathlete Paul Jumamil.
Jumamil of Rider Omega Pro Tri Team settled for second place with 1:13.49. He was followed by Jory Ycong, who timed 1:14.49.
The 16-year-old Remolino displayed his enormous potential in triathlon after he emerged as the fastest Filipino finisher in last month’s ASTC Asian Triathlon Cup in Japan. He is scheduled to compete in another leg of the ASTC Asian Triathlon Cup slated this July in Singapore.
The 13-year-old Alcoseba, on the other hand, reached the finish line in 1:32.20, besting Karen Andrea Manayon and Cianyl Jamae Gonzales, who managed second and third with 1:37.49 and 1:43.24, respectively.
The solid performances earned Alcoseba and Remolino P10,000 each.
