CEBUANO tennis standout Chad Connor Cuizon showcased his championship pedigree all-tournament long as he snagged two titles in the Palawan Pawnshop – Palawan Express Pera Padala (PPS-PEPP) regional tennis tournament presented by Slazenger last Sunday in Ubay, Bohol.
Cuizon, who dominated the Dumaguete leg a couple of weeks ago, put up an all-around display of power and speed against KC Miasco in the finals, beating the latter, 4-2, 4-2, to snatch the 10-unisex title.
After winning the singles title, the youngster Cuizon wasn’t done yet as the hungry little bundle joined forces with Kyle Bermoy to trounce the duo of Daryl Hermoso and Rafael Gonzales in the finals, 8-0, to bag the 10-unisex doubles crown.
In other games, Pagadian City’s Nilo Ledama shone the brightest among competitors as he went on to complete a rare three title romp after crushing Christian Lagat, 6-2, 6-3, Ibarra Ortega Jr., 6-3, 6-3, and Giulian Bandoquillo, 6-4, 6-2, to win the 18, 16 and 14-under boys crowns, respectively.
“It’s inspiring to see new faces emerge from each tournament and Ledama’s three-title feat spoke well of the caliber of this young player, who, given the proper motivation and exposure, could land a spot in the national pool,” said Palawan Pawnshop president/CEO Bobby Castro.
Meanwhile, Leyte will host the next stop of the nationwide circuit on May 25 to 29 at the Maasin Tennis Club.
