About 40 motorcycles has been impounded by the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) following a series of operation in Barangays Tawason, Casili and Canduman under the so-called “One time big time Oplan: Sita.”

Senior Superintendent Jonathan Cabal, the acting director of MCPO, said they conducted the operation late Monday evening and impounded the motorcycles because the drivers either failed to present registration documents or their own driver’s license.

Cabal said Chief Supt. Patrocinio Comendador, the police director of Central Visayas, ordered the conduct of Oplan: Sita following a rise of motor napping incidents in Cebu during and after the May elections.

About 12 of the impounded motorcycles were claimed by their rightful owner yesterday while 28 remained held at the MCPO grounds, he said.

“Owners should present legal documents (to claim) their vehicles. They should not present fake documents because it will just increase their offense,” he said.

Cabal said they believed that some of these motorcycles were stolen and used in criminal activities.
