Two drug raids net 7 persons, yield shabu worth P130K

TWO separate anti-illegal drug operations in Dalaguete town in southern Cebu and Danao City in northern Cebu last Thursday yielded at least P130,000 worth of illegal drugs and led to the arrest of seven persons including a third year criminology student.

In Dalaguete town, police arrested Joseph Buenaflor, 26, a criminology student, and his cohort, Michael dela Peña, 30, a farmer, during a buy-bust operation at 10 a.m. that day in Barangay Obo.

PO1 Julie Tristan Villahermosa of the Dalaguete police station said they conducted the operation after receiving complaints from barangay officials of Buenaflor’s alleged drug trade in their barangay.

Villahermosa said they moved in to arrest the suspects after Dela Peña handed over a sachet to an undercover policeman worth P200.

He said that they also confiscated a sachet of suspected shabu from Dela Pena while three sachets of the suspected drug were taken from Buenaflor.

Earlier that day in Danao City, police raided a suspected drug den in Barangay Poblacion and arrested two brothers, Jonel, 27, and Rommel Batucan, 35, whom police suspected to be selling illegal drugs.

Cahr Enriquez, 40, Claudio Galo, 43, and Roy Razel Sanchez, 24, were also arrested after they were caught sniffing shabu in the drug den during the past 2 a.m. raid.

PO1 Euleses Villanueva of the Danao police station, said the operation led by Senior Insp. Alejandro Batobalonos, Danao City Police chief, resulted in the confiscation of a medium-sized pack and eight sachets believed to contain shabu and estimated to be worth at least P130,000.
