Invitational robotics league in Cebu slated this June

TO inspire future scientists and engineers to aid community’s problems through robotics technology, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) in partnership with the LEGO Group is staging the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) this June 1 to 4 at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City.

With the theme “Trash Trek”, FLL will be challenging the participants to design, build, and program an autonomous robot capable of resolving environment-related problems. There will be a total of 23 teams hailing from 13 countries namely Australia, India, Indonesia, Italy, Israel, Japan, Philippines, South Korea, Spain, Brazil, Pakistan, China, and Singapore. The outputs of participating teams will be exhibited during the open house on June 2 to 3 at the same venue which will be open to the public for viewing.

National Organizer of FLL Philippine Islands Invitational and Philippine Robotics Olympiad Mylene Abiva said that the event is also a way for young people to discover fun in science and technology while building self-confidence, knowledge, and critical thinking skills. The FLL Philippine Island Invitational is sponsored by INTEL Philippines, Microsoft, Bechtel, Island Souvenirs, Department of Education-7, and the City of Lapu-Lapu.
