THE remains that were wrapped like a mummy and dumped beside the national highway in Balud, San Fernando town at 4 a.m. last Monday, was claimed by relatives at the Tupaz Funeral Home in Carcar City Wednesday afternoon.
The body was identified as Jimmy Vosotros, a 48-year-old resident of Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.
His elder brother Bernardo and other relatives went to the funeral home at past 2 p.m. Wednesday after realizing through social media post that the body was Jimmy’s.
The victim’s relative who lives abroad spotted the photo on Facebook on Tuesday and referred it to their relatives in Basak, Lapu-Lapu.
Bernardo said they initially identified Jimmy through an FB photo because of the facial feature which has similarities to Jimmy as well as the scar in the stomach due to an operation several years ago.
Jimmy was stabbed when he was at his 20’s then while attending a disco.
At the funeral home, the relatives then identified Jimmy through a mole on the chin and a “Jimmy” tattoo at his back.
Bernardo said they did not bother to check the body until today because they have no inclination that something bad happened to his brother.
Jimmy was no longer staying in the house of his mother Antonia in Basak, Lapu-Lapu City, though, he sometimes went home.
The last time Jimmy went home was last April but he just stayed in the house in the morning until the evening. Jimmy was reportedly staying with his friends in Ponce near Queensland in Carreta, Cebu City.
His relatives said Jimmy is not a robber but they did not know who killed him.
P01 Lord Cañada of the San Fernando police said they will still talk to the relatives to find out the motive behind his killing.
