CEBU CITY–Saying he wants to change his life, a 25-year-old alleged hitman on Wednesday yield to an official of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).
Raymart “Macmac” Conahap, a resident of Barangay Carreta, Cebu City, went to the police headquarters and surrendered to Supt. Michael Bastes, chief of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB).
Conahap was the subject of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Estela Alma Singco of the Regional Trial Court Branch 12.
The suspect is facing murder case for allegedly killing Rowen Lobitania in 2015.
Conahap admitted killing Lobitania whom he said bullied his neighbors in Barangay Carreta, Cebu City.
“Gusto na ko nga magbag-o sa akong kinabuhi so ni-surrender ko sa police (I want to change my life so I surrendered to the police),” he told reporters.
Bastes, in a separate interview, said he had known Conahap since he was the chief of Theft and Robbery Section of CCPO a few years ago.
“He (Conahap) was involved in theft incidents at the reclamation area,” he said.
Bastes said they conducted surveillance operations against Conahap when they received an arrest warrant for murder issued by the court against the suspect.
He said they received reports that Conahap was paid by some drug personalities to kill people, but they had yet to verify it.
Bastes said they would present Conahap to the court which would have to decide whether or not to reduce the penalty against the suspect for owning up the crime.
