THE number of dengue cases had gone down in Cebu City for the past five months, the City Health Office said yesterday.
City Health Officer Dr. Daisy Villa said from the 273 dengue cases last January, the number went down to 180 cases in February, 199 in March, 140 in April and 81 cases in May.
There were three dengue cases as of last week, totaling the current number to 877.
There were seven confirmed deaths due to dengue, the latest being an 18-year-old from Barangay Talamban last May 30.
Villa said their office conducted a massive larvidicing activity in the city to reduce mosquito larvae before the full onset of the rainy season.
She said water containers that had no cover provided breeding grounds for dengue-carrying mosquitoes. /UP Cebu Intern Amy A. Macalinao
