Indonesian bets top Asian MTB in Danao City

INDONESIAN riders Kusmawati Yazid of Jabar MTB Team and Fanani Zaenal of Indonesia MTB bucked an unfamiliar territory to rule the Philippine National Championship Mountain Bike Asia Invitational at Danasan Eco Adventure Park in Danao City, northern Cebu, yesterday.

Yazid, 34, ruled the Women’s Elite by finishing the race in one hour, 22 minutes and 32 seconds, while Zaeni topped the Men’s Elite at 1:17:31.98.

Yazid praised her Filipino competitors.

“The competition was fast,” she said.

Meanwhile, Melissa Jane Jaroda of Team Groundzero and Cesar Lapaza Jr. of Cyceline were crowned the top Filipino finishers after finishing third in the Women’s and Men’s Elite, respectively.

“It’s an honor. It’s not only an opportunity, it’s also a responsibility,” said Jaroda.

In other results, Team Big Ring’s Badomar Jezam (0:43:11.61) won the Men’s Master A 30-39 Age Group while Team Prima’s Angelito Glinoga (0:45:34.70) clinched the Men’s Master B 40-Above title.

Paseo De Leon’s Nicho Lumay (0:51:31.82) reigned supreme in the Men’s Open while BMC Philippines’s Archie Duran (0:53:41.98) topped the Men’s Junior.
