Tabal meets with Patafa today

THE chief backers of Mary Joy Tabal are hoping for the best when they meet Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association (PATAFA) chief Philip Ella Juico today in Manila.

Motorace Philippines bosses Jonel and Chipi Borromeo will be joined by Tabal in the crucial meeting.

The Borromeo brothers are wishing for one thing in today’s meeting—for Patafa to approve Tabal’s reinstatement in the national track and field team.

Making it to the national team once again will fullfill Tabal’s dream of representing the country in the Olympic Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this August.

“I am hoping that Mr. Juico will tell Joy that her request for reinstatement has been approved and PATAFA will endorse her to the IAAF,” said Chipi, finance director of Motor Ace Philippines.

Jonel, the company’s president, said he is hoping that the issue will be finally settled for Tabal to start planning what to do next.

“I’m hoping that this meeting will be done to clarify whatever needs to be clarified and once it is over, the planning for Rio begins,” said Jonel.

Tabal earned an Olympic berth following a succesful campaign in the recent Scotia Bank Ottawa Marathon in Canada.

Tabal, however, has to be reinstated as a member of the national team for her to compete in the Olympics.

Tabal has written the Patafa board, asking the body to put her back in the national team.
