Seahawks floor Rams in duel of unbeaten teams

THE Seahawks used a big fourth quarter explosion Sunday night to outlast the Rams and score a bruising 91-84 overtime win in the sixth season of the Elite Basketball Club Cebu Summer Cup at the Visayan Glass Gym in Guadalupe.

The Seahawks, who exploded for 30 points in the fourth to force overtime, kicked the Rams out of the unbeaten club as they handed them their first loss of the tournament while climbing to the top of the standings with a 4-0 win-loss card.

John Velasco led the Seahawks with 30 points while teammate John Rey Salapa contributed 20 points.

The Rams (4-1) fell to third overall.

Meanwhile, Josephus Rusiana and Clint Caritan helped the defending champions Lions blast the lowly Wolves, 72-59.

Rusiana and Caritan dropped 22 and 19 points, respectively. Adrian Isoba paced the Wolves with 19 points while Ryan Alingaga pitched in 16 markers.

The Lions took a one-point lead at the end of the third period and never looked back, thereby improving their record to 3-2. They kept their playoff hopes alive by staying in the fifth spot of the standings.

In the last game, the Falcons overpowered the Jaguars, 72-54. Versatile big man Jhonnel Escober scored 14 while shooter Malvin Malicdem added 13.

Yovie Santizo, on the other hand, was the lone double-digit scorer for the Jaguars with 13 points.
