SOME 19 Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries in Naga City, Cebu recently graduated from dressmaking skills training at the Cebu Technological University (CTU).

Dressmaking is one of the various livelihood skills trainings conducted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD 7) through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).

During the graduation rites, the beneficiaries also received their own sewing machines installed with auto machine.

They were also given complete sets of sewing materials.

The partner-beneficiaries formally organized into an association and is expected to fully operate as garment enterprise once they get the permit to operate.

SLP is a community-based capacity building program that aims to increase the economic opportunities of the families through the different modalities that it offers such as skills training, seed capital fund, pre-employment assistance fund, and the cash for building livelihood assets.

This livelihood skills training is in partnership with CTU.

Other livelihood skills training identified under the program are housekeeping, furniture making, technical drafting, basic electricity and building wiring, massage therapy licensure course, food processing, plumbing and commercial cooking.
