P6B budget sent to council

THE mayor’s office in Cebu City Hall will move up back to the eighth floor from the ground floor where outgoing Mayor Michael Rama used to occupy for six years.

About P2 million will be allocated for its renovation to be taken from the P6 billion budget submitted by Acting City Mayor Margot Osmeña to the four-member Cebu City Council yesterday.

“He (Tomas) would like to go back to the eighth floor which is not being used. What happened before when Rama became the mayor, he transferred to the ground floor and this dislocated a lot of offices there like the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) where they are now occupying the second and third floors,” she said.

With her husband returning to the eighth floor, Osmeña said the VIP lounge will disappear. She said the city does not need a VIP lounge since everybody is a guest.

Osmeña said they may move the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) back to the ground floor.

“I would like to think, we put back offices then (people) don’t have to go up second floor or third floor (for business transactions). Like in the bank, all the tellers are on the first floor,” she said.

The acting mayor said she also appropriated P6 million for the rehabilitation of five dental and medical mobile vans.

“We want to rehabilitate them so that they can be mobilized. They will be deployed in the barangays,” she said.

The budget also covers the mid-year bonus of the 5,000 City Hall employees, salary differential (special accounts P15.8 million), terminal leave (P5 million), monetization (P1 million), city-sponsored projects (P3 million) and South Road Properties (SRP) loan payment (P390 million).
