Wife tagged in OFW killing

A parricide complaint was filed before the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office against a woman who allegedly killed her husband just two hours after he arrived in their house in Kalindoy, Liburon, Carcar City from his work abroad.

Police claimed 40-year old Haide Rafols Empleo killed her husband, Ramil, a 40-year-old overseas Filipino worker (OFW) last April 11 after investigation revealed that a gunshot was heard by neighbors on the day of the victim’s arrival, and he had not been seen alive since.

Ramil’s decomposing body was found by a farmer three days later in a ravine in Sitio Inad, Tabunan, Cebu City.

A police investigating team conducted an inspection of the victim’s house and found two bags full of Ramil’s clothes in a locked bedroom apparently to conceal them.

Investigation also showed that pictures of the victim were noticeably absent even if the house belonged to him and his wife while numerous melted picture frames were found buried outside.

A fireman’s cap allegedly belonging to a fireman stationed at the Pari-an Fire Station was found in the master’s bedroom, raising suspicions that reports of the fire officer and Empleo’s illicit affair were true.

The complaint before the fiscal’s office was filed along with an eye witness account that the fireman and his nephew were seen loading something wrapped in a white cloth into his vehicle while the victim’s wife held a flashlight to light their path.

After initially refusing to heed the investigator’s invitation, the victim’s wife later denied that her husband had arrived in the Philippines and that the body found in Sitio Inad was him.

But according to police, the suspect later claimed the victim’s cadaver to have it buried in a municipal cemetery in Labangon, Cebu City without informing the investigators.

Police are looking into the possible involvement of the fireman in the OFW’s killing while his nephew has not been located since.
