The Cebu City government broke ground Friday morning for the Cebu Technological University (CTU) extension campus in Barangay Babag, a mountain barangay in Cebu City.

The campus will offer two courses, Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology (BSIT) and Bachelor of Science in Education (BSEd).

According to South district representative Rodrigo “Bebot” Abellanosa the project will include a two storey school building within the one hectare lot as well as a 2-storey hospital right beside the school building.

The project will cost P75 million. It will be funded jointly by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Department of Health (DOH).

Students enrolled and attending classes at their temporary campus in Barangay Bonbon Gym will be transferred to Barangay Babag once construction is complete.

“There are around 1,000 student now. We are targeting to transfer them to our Babag campus by second semester,” said Abellanosa.
