USC, USPF face manpower woes in upcoming Cesafi volley tilt

THE University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors and the University Of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Lady Panthers will be missing some key players in the upcoming CESAFI volleyball season.

To compound their woes, the two squads could not bring in new players due to the new system of education that prevents teams from recruiting junior players for their collegiate lineup.

After losing key reserves Raul Consad and Nilo Jasmin to the Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras in the off-season, USC Coach Norvie Labuga revealed that two of his players whom he refused to identify will not be suiting up due to some academic problems.

Meanwhile, the Lady Panthers will now be without Rochelle Rica, Jacquelene Tadatada and Geryl Anne Naingue, who already graduated last March.

Rica is looking to play in the Philippine Super Liga (PSL).

“Coach Jordan Paca had asked me if I wanted to play as a libero for PSL. If given the chance, why not?” Rica added.

The multi-titled Paca said he has yet to receive any offer from a PSL team since he mentioned the matter to Rica a few months ago.

“Wala pa man mitawag ang mga teams sa PSL. They usually call me when they are searching for players,” Paca added.
