Rep sees light for underpass project

June 17,2016 - 11:04 PM

WITH the new Cebu City administration under his ally Cebu City Mayor-elect Tomas Osmeña, Cebu City South District Rep. Rodrigo Abellanosa said yesterday that he is confident that the multi-million peso underpass project will finally get the go signal in the next three to four months.

He said once the project gets the support of Osmeña and President-elect Rodrigo Duterte, work can start once the paperwork is completed.

He said that the proposed Storm water Management and Road Tunnel (SMART) underpass, which was inspired after the SMART tunnel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will be located at the intersection of Bacalso Avenue and F. Llamas St.

He said that P750-million project’s detailed engineering was already drafted by the Department of Public Works and Highways in Central Visayas.

Outgoing Mayor Michael Rama deferred the project last year. Rama said that he wanted the alternative roads of E. Sabellano St. and Tagunol St. to F. Jaca St. to be widened first before they can go on with the project./USJ-R Intern Rabboni Borbon
