ELECTRICAL misuse caused the fire that hit a thickly populated community in Barangay Suba, Cebu City late Sunday afternoon.
SFO2 Melangel Yburan said the fire gutted a house made of light materials and damaged at least seven others. Fire investigators pegged the damages at P200,000.
Yburan said the fire originated at a bungalow made of light materials that was located in the interior of Sitio Missionaries. Residents saw electrical sparks from inside the abandoned house.
Because the house was padlocked, Yburan said residents had difficulty putting out the flame causing it to spread to nearby structures.
Yburan said very narrow roads and the presence of road side stalls made it difficult for city fire trucks to enter the fire site. Yburan said they managed to control the fire 25 minutes later.
