MANDAUE City Mayor-elect Gabriel Luis “Luigi” Quisumbing will take his oath before Court of Appeals Justice Marilyn Lagura-Yap, his professor in University of San Carlos, on June 30 at the session hall of Mandaue City Hall.
Quisumbing will take his oath together with his running mate Vice Mayor-elect Carlo Fortuna and elected councilors.
Quisumbing said that he extended the invitations to the three councilors who are from One Cebu, namely Elmer Cabahug, Malcolm Sanchez, and Ben Basiga.
“We hope very much that they come. As far as we are concerned, time for politics has passed and the time for work begins”, Quisumbing said.
Although the majority of the council that won during the May 9 polls were from the Liberal Party (LP), Quisumbing hoped that they can still work together with the other three councilor from One Cebu.
“My ultimate hope is that no matter what side on the political fence you came from, that our aim is the same: to improve Mandaue City,” Quisumbing said.
Quisumbing added that he was happy that the three councilors from the other camp attended their previous meetings.
“We anticipated they will be here during some of the department integrations in the next two weeks. We have an open door policy,” Quisumbing said.
Meanwhile, Rep.-elect Jonas Cortes (Cebu 6th district) took his oath as member of the incoming 17th Congress before Justice Yap on Friday at his new district office at RR building along AC Cortes Avenue.
