AFTER HER splendid performance in the UAAP volleyball tournament last season, Cebuana spiker Isabel “Isa” Molde has become one of the rising stars of Philippine volleyball.
The 17-year-old Molde was one of the driving forces of the University of the Philippines (UP) Lady Maroons last year and went on to win the league’s Rookie of the Year award.
However, the volleybelle from Catmon, Cebu still has room for improvement.
UP coach Jerry Yee said Molde has what it takes to become the next face of volleyball if she continues to improve her game.
“She is developing as a player but [she] could improve more,” Yee said. “Molde should train to improve her defense.”
Molde is up to the challenge but said she does not want to think of the pressure going into the next season of the volleyball wars.
“I don’t want to think about the high expectations so that I won’t feel the pressure,” Molde said. She is also positive that she can improve as she continues to get help from the veterans in the team.
“My older teammates, they also help us [improve].”
