Cebuano boxer Vergilio Silvano of the Omega Boxing Gym looks to get even with Aston Palicte when they clash on Friday night at the Jurado Hall of Philippine Marine Corp, in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

The fight card dubbed as Friday Fight Night will have Silvano and Palicte contending for the vacant IBF Pan-Pacific super flyweight title.

The two fighters faced off in Nov. 13 last year where Palicte pulled off a unanimous decision win.

“He (Silvano) is fighting in the 115-pound division. We would have wanted him to stay in 112 but he is really determine to fight Palicte anew,” said Chad Canares, vice president of Omega Pro Sports International.

Canares revealed that Silvano had planned to retire when the opportunity to fight Palicte came last year.

Silvano, 26, fought Palicte with only a month of preparation, Canares said.

“He said [he] is more prepared now, and he wants to prove that he can beat Palicte,” Canares added.

Sporting a 21W(12KOs)-6L-1D record, Silvano bounced back from that loss to Palicte with a unanimous win over journeyman Fernando Ocon in the inaugural edition of the “Who’s Next?” Pro Boxing Series last June 3 at Robinsons Galleria Cebu Atrium.

Palicte will try to prove that his previous win over Silvano was no fluke. He will also get back on track.

After that win over Silvano, the 25-year-old Palicte, who has 20 wins with 17 knockout victories and only two losses, stumbled in his next fight as he absorbed a split decision loss to Mexican Junior Granados in Yucatan, Mexico last March 12.
