OUTGOING elected officials of Mandaue City were recognized on Wednesday during their regular session at the Mandaue City Hall.
Outgoing Councilors Jimmy Lumapas, Beethoven Andaya, Editha Cabuhug, Diosdado Suico, Jose Jefferson Ceniza, Emmarie Ouano-Dizon and Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede were given plaques of recognition.
Also recognized was Congressman-elect outgoing Mayor and incoming Cebu Sixth District Representative Jonas Cortes.
However, Dizon, who ran for Mayor; Andaya, who ran for vice mayor; Ceniza and Cortes were not around during the ceremony.
Certificates of recognition were also given to the legislative assistants of the 13th Sangguniang Panlungsod members.
Some City Hall employees were emotional as the officials delivered their speeches.
In his speech, outgoing Vice Mayor Bercede thanked the staff, and members of the council. “I am grateful for the harmonious relationship and unending support without hesitation over the past years,” he said.
“Honorable Mayor Jonas Cortes, for what I have become now, I absolutely owe it to you. I am happy for being your vice mayor,” Bercede added.
Meanwhile, Suico, in his speech, recalled his contributions to the city of Mandaue. Suico was the chairman of committee on Appropriation, Budget and Finance, Committee on Planning, Development and Socialized Housing and Committee on Rules and Privileges and vice chairman of other committees.
Suico said that despite the heavy working load, he was able to initiate an amendment of the 37-year old Ordinance No.14, S. 1979, the Comprehensive Framework Development Plan and Zoning Ordinance of Mandaue City.
