CCCI to award this year’s top entrepreneurs

The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) will again recognize outstanding local entrepreneurs for the year on June 30 as this year’s Cebu Business Month celebration comes to an end.

Pia Alturas, Grand Chamber Awards and Fellowship Night chairperson, said in a press conference that five awards will be given to selected entrepreneurs chosen by the chamber’s present board of trustees and past presidents.

The awards to be given during the event at Marco Polo Plaza in Cebu City include that for Entrepreneur of the Year, Corporate Social Responsibility Institution, Small Business Entrepreneur, Countryside Entrepreneur, and Young Entrepreneur.

Alturas said a special citation will be conferred during the ceremony, but would not reveal what it is yet.

The nominees from each category came from the CCCI’s around 700 member companies, she added.

She said chamber members were notified to send nominations between March and April this year while the nomination process ended in May.

The Entrepreneur of the Year award was given to Bunny Pages, chairman and chief executive officer of Pages Holdings, Inc. (PHI), in 2015.

Now on its 20th year, CBM will break tradition by allowing non-chamber members to attend the event for P1,000, inclusive dinner and an entry in the raffle draw.

Christian Paroan, CBM 2016 chairman, said they have seen their membership count grow over the years and that he hopes the event will encourage others to be part of the chamber.
