FOR the last three days, nine workers worked to prepare the burial chamber of Jeffrey “Jaguar” Diaz, whom the police tagged as a major drug personality.

The mausoleum was not finished in time for Jaguar’s internment yesterday but was ready to accommodate his remains.

Workers cemented the ground, piled hollow blocks, and built a tomb made of granite.

A 13-year-old worker said they started work only last Friday.

“Gisugo mi sa iyang pamilya (We were tapped by Jaguar’s family to prepare his burial place),” he told CDN.

Ben (not his real name) was among the nine workers who were hired to build Jaguar’s mausoleum under a Talisay tree inside the Calamba Public Cemetery in Cebu City.

They were given a daily wage of P250 each.

From an idle ground, they cleared the area of rocks and mud, and then poured cement on the floor measuring 3 x 10 meters.

The interior part of Jaguar’s tomb was painted white, while the exterior was overlaid with granite.

The mausoleum doesn’t have a roof yet.

Ben and his fellow construction workers are set to finish Jaguar’s mausoleum after the suspected drug lord was laid to rest yesterday.

The boy was tight-lipped about other details of the mausoleum.

He said his family has lived inside the cemetery for over a decade, and that he, along with the other workers, were just requested by Jaguar’s family to build the mausoleum.

Jaguar was buried yesterday, 10 days after he was shot dead by policemen in Las Piñas City. He allegedly tried to shoot the police team, prompting them to kill the person they considered Central Visayas’ number 1 drug personality.
