AGENTS of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) received a P200,000 cash reward from Danao City Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III for the June 21 surrender of suspected drug lord Alvaro “Barok” Alvaro.
NBI Bohol director Rennan Augustus Oliva personally received the money from the mayor today. Oliva was accompanied by NBI Regional Director Jose Justo Yap, Asst. Director Ernesto Macabare, and Special Investigators Arnel Pura and Danilo Cabanlet.
Yap said they will use the money given by the Danao City government to improve its satellite office in Bohol.
In a Facebook post, the Danao City government said the council passed a resolution commending the NBI-Bohol operatives and granting them P200,000 cash reward.
The resolution was authored by Councilor Jojo Roble, chairman of the peace and order committee. Alvaro, a native of Danao City, was considered by officials a “menace” in the town.
Alvaro, said to be the top drug dealer in Cebu province surrendered to the NBI’s Bohol office after his friend, suspected drug lord Jeffrey “Jaguar” Diaz, was shot dead by operatives of the Regional Intelligence Division in what police said was a shootout in Las Piñas City last June 17.
Alvaro is detained at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Cebu City.
