THEY may have ended up with different political fortunes, but both Vice President-elect Maria Leonor “Leni”
Robredo and Liberal Party standard-bearer Mar Roxas thanked Cebu voters for their support yesterday.
“Nung ako po ay hindi pa kilala, yung lungsod ng Cebu po ay tumaya na sa akin (When I was still unknown, Cebu City made a bet on me),” the vice president told the audience that attended the oathtaking rites for Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña and allies of the Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK) at the Cebu City Sports Center.
The vice president arrived at the venue at 5 p.m. and officiated the ceremonies with Roxas and Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III in attendance. Roxas said he will attend Robredo’s inauguration on June 30.
Roxas said he was in Cebu City to also thank the Cebuanos who voted for him in the May 9 elections. Roxas received over 600,000 votes in Cebu.
