A SELF-confessed drug runner who was among five persons arrested by operatives of the Criminal Investigation Detection Group (CIDG) is begging President-elect Rodrigo Duterte to give him a second chance.
Alvin Mendoza said if he is pardoned, he will stop his illegal drug activities and focus on taking care of his family.
“Mr. President mangayo unta ko og second chance aron dili ko mapriso (I’m asking for a second change so I won’t be jailed),” Mendoza said during an interview with reporters on Wednesday afternoon.
Mendoza was arrested on illegal drug possession charges along with four others in sitio Bulanghoy, barangay Gun-ob in Lapulapu City past noontime on Wednesday.
Supt. Fermin Armendarez III, CIDG asst. chief, said they placed Mendoza and another drug suspect, Alvin Lumongsod, under surveillance for two weeks prior to Wednesday’s buy bust operation.
Also arrested were Rey Pulvera, Brian Geba Veral, and Rios Torrifranca. A sixth suspect identified as Marlon Enopia escaped. The five drug suspects are now detained at the CIDG-7 cell pending the filing of charges against them.
Mendoza told reporters that he was afraid that he would languish in jail for a long time and won’t be able to spend time with his family. He said he worked in Manila for seven years prior to his arrest.
