Suspected drug dealer Alvaro “Barok” Alvaro has a new cellmate at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC).
Australian Peter James Robinson, who faces qualified trafficking charges for allegedly molesting school girls and boys, was transferred to a cell occupied by Alvaro last Tuesday after a week in isolation.
“He always hits his fellow inmates. He thinks that he is more superior to Filipinos,” Marco Toral, CPDRC consultant on jail matters, told Cebu Daily News.
Toral said Alvaro is still closely monitored by security cameras and wardens as well as retired Marine personnel.
The 53-year-old Robinson faces charges for violating Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, Republic Act 9775 or the Anti-Child Pornography Act of 2009 and qualified trafficking.
Robinson was accused of molesting school girls and boys whom he invited in his room in a Cordova beach resort two years ago.
“Robinson and I already talked, and he said that he really wants to be free,” Toral said.
Toral said Robinson is also under observation and only his sister and lawyers were visiting him.
Another Australian inmate, Hilton Reece Munro, committed suicide while detained in isolation at the CPDRC.
Toral said Alvaro will be transferred soon to an ordinary detention cell because the wardens see him as just another inmate.
“We are still observing his movements. We are also listening to the feedback from authorities to see if he is really that high profile. We are also checking if he has some friends and enemies inside the cell,” Toral said.
He said Alvaro has no health problems. /UP Cebu Intern Maurice Jitty M. Villaester
