Man with murder case shot dead

A MAN who had a pending warrant of arrest was killed in a shootout with Ginatilan police.

Ronald Alfafara, 38, married, of Barangay Campisong, Ginatilan town in southwest Cebu, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Ginatilan provincial hospital.

PO1 Carl Brion Pelago of Ginatilan Police Station said Alfafara had been in hiding after he allegedly killed his neighbor in 2005.

Operatives led by PO3 Dave Agustines tracked the suspect in the mountain barangay of Ginatilan after getting a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Leopoldo Cañete of RTC-7 Branch 61 in Barili town.

It was already 4 a.m. last Thursday when they arrived at the house of Alfafara.

The policemen cordoned the house of Alfafara but waited for the sunrise before serving the warrant of arrest.

Pelago said that his fellow cop told the suspect to surrender, but the latter pulled out his .357 revolver and fired twice at them. Pelaga said they returned fire and hit Alfafara in the chest. Alfafara was brought to the hospital but failed to reach alive.

Recovered from the scene were the firearm used by Alfafara with two live bullets and two empty shells.
