Fire razes Lapu apartment; damages at over half a million

A FIRE razed a two-storey apartment at Yampoy and Ngujo Compound in Barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City at past 8 am Sunday.

The fire originated at the room rented by Fidji and Rexon Castro. An electric fan overheated and caught fire, burning through most items inside the room before spreading out. Fire trucks arrived at 9 am and put out the fire at 11 am.

SFO1 Hadjiludin Samonte, fire investigator of the Lapu-Lapu City Fire Central Department, said no one was hurt and damages were pegged at P800,000.
