Elevens exact revenge against Flyboys in USC alumni hoops

The 2011 Elevens got back at their finals tormentors last season as they beat the reigning champions 2008 Flyboys, 75-63, in Division 3 of the University of San Carlos North Alumni Basketball Conference President’s Cup last weekend at the USC North Campus gym along Mango Avenue.

The Flyboys bested the Elevens in the championship game during the last conference, thanks to a buzzer-beating basket by Nilton Otida.

This time around, the Elevens came prepared and executed their game plan to perfection leading to their win, their second in as many games.

Deadeye shooter Anthony Romaguerra and Prince Malana each had 14 while Dave Guardiario chipped in 12. John Cabellon led the losing side with 18 markers while Otida and Nico Magat had 15 each. Batch 2008 fell to an even 1-1 in the tournament.

Meanwhile, the 2006 Fury swept their games last weekend to tie the Elevens for the lead in Division 3. They first manhandled the 2014 Underdogs, 77-54, behind the 25 of Justin delos Reyes and the 24 of Jig Paul Morales. They then clobbered the 2005 Chameleons, 87-75, as Delos Reyes once again led the way with 22 while Morales pitched in 18.

The 2010 Pioneers also emerged victorious with a 74-69 win over the Underdogs.

In Division 2, the titleholders 2001 Dos Mil Uno were beaten by the 2000 Millennium, 59-63, in a rematch of last conference’s title match-up.
