SHIERLIE Garbo is worried over reports of rainy days ahead for Cebu.
Garbo, her family and the fire victims of Barangays Guizo and Mantuyong who are staying at the grounds of the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) had to endure the cold caused by last week’s rain inside their makeshift shanties.
“We have no decent housing to protect ourselves from the strong wind and rains; our condition is difficult,” Garbo said.
The fire victims have been staying at the CICC grounds for four months now.
Felix Suico, Mandaue City’s Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) chief, said they allowed pregnant women, senior citizens and persons with disabilities to stay inside the CICC lobby area.
Suico said the fire victims can be transferred to the Mandaue City Sports Complex in case of floods.
“There are also ambulances and rescue personnel on standby in case of evacuation,” he said.
