A total of 39 drug pushers, drug users and operators of drug dens voluntarily surrendered before Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas on Tuesday afternoon.
Gullas welcomed them in his office at the Talisay City Hall where they were escorted by personnel of the Talisay City Police Office (TCPO).
All of them were made to sign and swore to discontinue their illegal drug dealings through an Affidavit of Voluntary Surrender/Submission.
Supt. Germano Mallari, TCPO chief, said that of those who surrendered, 30 were drug pushers, seven were drug users, and two have admitted to be maintaining drug dens in the city.
He said that some of them are under their watchlist.
Of the 39, 13 were from Barangay Tanke, 10 from Bulacao, nine from Pooc, four from Lawaan III, and one from Dumlog, Biasong and Poblacion.
City Health Officer Dr. Lino Alanzado said they will assess how sincere they are of really undergoing rehabilitation.
Since Talisay City has an accredited aftercare program for drug rehabilitations, those who will commit 100 percent to undergo this will be enrolled in the program.
This is free of charge and they will ask the families of these drug dependents to help them.
“They (families) play a big role in the aftercare program,” Alanzado said.
