Aprylle Ckyle Tagsip will soon be wearing an Adamson University uniform.

SHE was on the Southwestern University (SWU) bench, cheering for her teammates as they went on to celebrate the team’s title victory in the Cebu Schools Athletics Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) girls’ volleyball last year.

Now, former SWU Cobra Aprylle Ckyle Tagsip has a chance to take her talents to the floor in a much bigger stage.

This after the 15-year-old Tagsip found herself a spot in the Adamson University girls’ roster that will compete in the upcoming UAAP season 79, which fires off this September.

Tagsip will already be suiting up for the Falcons this season since the UAAP residency rule only applies in the collegiate level.

The Valencia, Bukidnon native, who said she improved her skills by allotting extra hours in training, was already offered by Adamson in 2013 after her stint in the Palarong Pambansa. But she declined the offer to remain with the Cobras.

Tagsip said the reason why she reconsidered the Adamson offer was because she wants to improve her skills and compete against the best players in the country.

“The benefits are also good, so I don’t want to waste this kind of opportunity. This [is] like a once-in-a-lifetime offer,” she said.

Although she knows she has the skills to compete in a top-level tournament, Tagsip believes there’s still room for improvement. “I really didn’t expect to make it into the Adamson lineup because my father already told me that competition in Manila is really different. But I think I have the skills becuase I don’t think I could have made it if I didn’t have the skills.”
