Woman who tried to sneak in shabu inside jail nabbed

A WOMAN who allegedly tried to sneak in shabu in the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) was arrested by jail officials on Saturday morning.

Jail warden Romeo Manansala said the 26-year-old woman identified only as a certain Charlot Miao of Barangay Ocaña in Carcar City, hid the small pack of shabu inside her leggings when she submitted herself for inspection prior to entering the jail facility.

Manansala said the woman lied to the female inspecting officer when she was frisked. “Niingon siya nga kwarta na day ngadto sa nag-inspection niya (She told the inspector that it was money),” he said.

But when the female inspector insisted on checking the item, she found a small pack of shabu wrapped in paper and tape. The woman was sent to the jail management’s office for questioning.

She admitted that she was not the one who was supposed to deliver the item to one of the inmates detained there. Manansala said they will submit the drugs to the crime lab for verification.

The woman will be temporarily detained at the CPDRC’s female dorm and interrogated on Monday.

Manansala said this was the first time this year that they were able to seize a shabu from a jail visitor. He said random inspections are done at the CPDRC.

Last May or June, he said they were able to confiscate drug paraphernalia, three cellphones and improvised sharp objects.
