Gullas to limit hiring of job order workers to 1K in City Hall

TALISAY City Mayor Eduardo Gullas said he will offer employment to only 500 to 1,000 job order workers to save on government funds for projects.

“We are exercising fiscal responsibility,” he told reporters saying that the 1,800 job order employees hired by his predecessor Johnny V. de los Reyes was excessive.

The Commission on Audit (COA) advised the Talisay City government to limit the number of job order employees during the tenure of former mayor and now Councilor Socrates Fernandez who hired more than 800.

The rift between the City Council and then Mayor De los Reyes drove him to prohibit the council from hiring their own job order workers.
Gullas said he will allow each city councilor to hire three JOs.

“We have to give them. Nganong ako-akohon man sa mayor (Why would the mayor have it all)?” Gullas said.

Gullas said there will be a panel that will evaluate the selection and number of job order employees to be hired.
