Balamban, Danao cops get rewards for anti-drug ops

POLICE officers from the Balamban and Danao City police stations were given cash incentives by the Cebu Provincial government for their successful anti-drug operations in the first quarter of 2016.

A total of P426,000 in cash incentives were handed over by Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III and Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CPADAO) head Carmen Remedios Durano-Meca to 30 policemen from the two police stations in a ceremony yesterday afternoon at the Capitol.

“It has been the policy of the Province of Cebu to provide incentives to police officers who are responsive to their duties and effective on the public clamor of this social menace (illegal drugs),” Meca said in a speech.

Based on their accomplishment reports, a total of nine anti-drug operations have been conducted by the Danao City Police Station in several barangays from January 15 to April 2 this year. This earned the station P364,000 in cash incentives.

On the other hand, the Balamban Police Station was able to conduct two anti-drug operations in Barangays Buanoy and Cantuod last January 13 and February 11, respectively. They received P62,000 as incentive from the province.

Balamban Station head Chief Insp. Florendo Fajardo thanked the provincial government for their support to the police force.

“Our fight is not focused on the monetary award. This is, for me, a personal crusade to have aggressive operations against drugs. And it can also give high morale to our pack. We hope this will continue,” he said on behalf of the police force.

For his part, Davide also thanked the policemen for their efforts in the province’s drive against illegal drugs.

He reminded them to exercise caution especially during their operations.
