Ten minors were rounded up Tuesday night in Toledo City for violating the city’s curfew ordinance.
Mae Tacandong, head of Toledo City Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS), said three of the kids were rounded in a coffee shop while the rest are street kids.
“The parents of these kids were given a warning. We were able to return them to their immediate families,” Tacandong said.
Kids that were rounded up age from 7 to 17 years old.
Since the city still has no designated holding area for the children, they were gathered at Marcelo A. Barba Sports Complex before they were brought home to their parents.
Under the ordinance which was signed in 1990, the parents are given a warning for the firts offense. Another warning will be given for the second offense and the parents will have to pay P20. For the third offense, parents will then be required to attend a seminar.
