THE PHENOMENAL love team and Kalyeserye sweethearts Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza celebrated their first year anniversary filled with special performances and a “tragic event” leading to the possible next chapter of their segment in “Eat Bulaga!” yesterday.

AlDub fans from all walks of life across the world joined the anniversary celebration on Twitter flooding the #ALDUB1stAnniversary with messages of love and nostalgia. As of 5 p.m. yesterday, the hashtag recorded more than 5 million tweets already.

Midnight of Saturday, the social media platform Twitter joined AlDub’s first anniversary celebration by launching a special heart emoji—two hands forming a heart that appears alongside the hashtag #AlDub1stAnniversary. A GMA News report stated that this is the first time that a customized emoji has been created for a TV show in Southeast Asia.

One Twitter user named @iamelmer or Elmer D.R., used his creativity to pay tribute to the anniversary of the Aldub with a fan art along with the whole cast of the Eat Bulaga’s Kalyeserye.

Some of the characters include the Rogelios, Duhrizz, Lola Baba, “Dodong” Smash, the three lolas, the
AlDub love team, and more.

The online music streaming Spotify also joined the celebration by posting the #KiligPaMore playlist that was then the tag line of the first movie of Alden and Maine, “My Bebe Love.”

“Look back at all the moments #ALDUB1stAnniversary made us feel giddy with these tracks,” posted Spotify on Twitter.

The playlist featured the iconic red apron of Maine used on the Kalyeserye and a blue male polo of Alden with bold letters written, “One down, forever to go.”

American singer-songwriter Bryan White delighted the audience yesterday when he sang “God Gave Me You,” which has become the unofficial theme song for Alden and Maine since they “met” on splitscreen last year.

On the Kalyeserye segment, Lola Nidora played by Wally Bayola revealed that Divina and Maine Mendoza are the same person. She only guised Maine as a nanny to her advantage so that her father Dodong will not recognize her.

Nagkamali ako Divina, sana ay mapatawad mo ako, Divina. Marahil, ito na ang panahon para malaman mo ang totoo,” Lola Nidora said.

Lola Nidora gave her a white towel with the embroidered name Maine Mendoza.

Lola Nidora addressed the two: “Richard Faulkerson Jr., nasa harap mo na si Maine Mendoza. Si Divina at si Maine ay iisa. Maghawak kayo ng kamay.

In response, Alden declared: “Mapa-Yaya Dub o Divina, o Maine Mendoza, siya lang ang laman ng puso ko.”

Maine told Alden, “Gusto kong malaman mo na kahit anong mangyari, mayroon ka talagang special spot sa puso ko, hindi na mawawala ‘yun kahit anong mangyari.”
