Boomerangs blast Pioneers for second victory in E-League

AFTER a faulty start, the Telstra Boomerangs made it two-in-a-row as they tripped the Sykes Pioneers, 77-70, in the lone Elite Classic match of the 12th City Sports Club-Cebu (CSC-C) E-League for Basketball last Saturday at the CSC-C Gym.

Coming off a 70-66 win over the Wipro Tigers, the Boomerangs leaned on the superb game of Jasper Christian Diaz, who was brilliant on both ends of the floor to tally 17 points, 14 rebounds, four blocked shots and two steals.

Jetro Gonzaga was also productive for the Boomerangs as he produced 16 markers, seven rebounds, seven steals, six assists and two blocked shots.

Armalon Fernandez and Janrie Perez each added 10 markers and also combined for 13 rebounds.

Jhoniel Geraldizo scored 20 points, Melecio Villaplaza, Sherwin Anghay and Paul Sanchez tallied 12, 11 and 10, respectively, but their outputs were not enough to save the Pioneers from tasting their second defeat in three games.

Actions in the EVO League saw the Dyninno Raptors trouncing the Atos Falcons, 56-36, the United Health Group Cobras escaping the Author olutions Inc. (ASI) Hardbacks, 48-44, and the Kyocera Frontiers pulling off a 76-70 triumph over the Contact Solutions Fying Lemurs, 76-70.

Kenneth Babor and Rainier Dominic Obenza connived for 22 points to lead the Raptors, while Teonil Opelina paced the Falcons with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Joseph Juariza led the Cobras with 12 markers, while Joselito Ruiz added 10 markers.

Donald Stephen De Leon was the lone Harback to score in double figures with 19 markers.

Ariel Ramonito Edera, on the other hand, erupted for 33 points and also collected 10 rebounds, four assists, four steals and a block to spearhead the Frontiers. Edera was backed by Junrey Cabarrubias chipped in 14 markers.

James Malalay topped the Flying Lemurs with 21 points, while Jerard Dela Cerna and Rodginald Antipala submitted 19 and 11 markers, respectively.
