THE UNIVERSITY of Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters seem primed and ready for the upcoming Cesafi juniors competition as they wrapped up the title in the 1st Mayor Teche Sitoy-Cho basketball tournament with a convincing 79-62 rout of the severely undermanned University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers last weekend at the town of Cordova.
The Baby Webmasters, runners-up in the Cesafi tournament last year, started off hot and led, 28-16, after the first 10 minutes of aciton. Seven players managed to score during that telling stretch led by John Bryle Cuyos and Luigi Gabisan’s combined 12.
Diminutive court general Gelmart Ompad then piled on 10 in the second canto to help UC push their lead to 15, 44-29. The game’s outcome was hardly in doubt as the Baby Webmasters brought a 60-45 lead at the start of the final stanza.
Cuyos led the way for UC with 25 while Ompad and Kyle Ordeniza added 12 each.
UV was reduced to a five-man crew in the wake of their free-for-all fracas with Don Bosco, which saw 10 of their players get suspended for the rest of the tournament.
